20 summer pieces for under £20

Image from Pixabay

I always find that I end up buying more clothes in the summer. Whether it's wanting to show off my outfit, choosing pretty pieces that will be worn regularly or purchasing for a summer holiday, buying summer items always seems so much more fun and easy!

In winter, it's all about layering. Buying thick jumpers, big coats and monochrome colours is so boring and the idea that you don't really see what you wear is something that makes the thought of summer shopping so much more appealing.

So, as summer is just around the corner, I've been looking at the latest arrivals and trends ready for my summer haul. I don't want to spend a fortune as I know that I'll just end up seeing more and more that I will want to buy. From gingham to ruffles, bardot sleeves to embellishment, here's 20 summer pieces I've found that include all of the latest trends, and are less than £20! The dream.

Missguided haul

After Missguided managed to literally break the internet with a 50% off site-wide discount, I couldn't wait to receive my parcel. My 2 minute slot on the site resulted in frantic clicking and not entirely knowing what I'd actually purchased. A huge parcel finally arrived; shoes, jeans, playsuit, skirts, dresses and tops. All for less than £100.

Top Spring/Summer trends

Desert

Desert nudes are the perfect look for daytime, whether you're out for lunch or taking a day trip. Nudes, creams, whites and browns are all easy colours, but be imaginative. You can pair them with anything, but together they'll always look classic and effortless.

Lace

Lace has got to be my favourite trend this spring/summer. From lusting after the gorgeous Alexander McQueen and Dolce and Gabbana designer collections on the runway, to scrolling through pages of clothes online, I can't wait to find that perfect lace dress or skirt for long summer nights.
Lace is a perfect look for an elegant spring/summer wardrobe, and definitely won't go out of date.

Pastel

Pastel colours make for the perfect, girly summer look. Whether it's just a touch of pastel pink, paired with your favourite blue denim jeans, or a cotton-candy look dress, accessorised with a nude pair of wedges, you'll feel perfectly dressed for summer.

White

Crisp, white pieces are a must for the summer. White won't only keep your look cool and classic, but will go with any other colour, so mix and match brights and bolds with your favourite white top. Don't stick with plain cotton t-shirts though - textures work brilliantly with white, whether it's silk, lace or denim.

My Christmas wish list

It's beginning to feel a bit like Christmas and nothing says Christmas more than a few presents under the tree! Although the festive season is all about spending time with friends+family and eating and drinking too much, it's a wonderful feeling to exchange presents and cards with those who mean the most to us.

I started my Christmas shopping pretty early this year and already have a few people sorted (although I'm sure I'll buy way too much in New York for everyone as well).. But I can't help but find things I'd love to buy for myself!

Here's my Christmas wish-list:

1. Loafers - Kurt Geiger

2. Sweater - Topshop

3. Ring - Pandora

4. Bag - Net a Porter

5. Chelsea Boots - Kurt Geiger

Designer day out

On Saturday, Ollie and I went to Bicester Village to take a look at what they had and hopefully, come away with a few bargains. The weather was rubbish and it rained practically the whole time we were there but we definitely didn't let it dampen our moods!

All of the shops had sales, which made it so much more enticing to go mad with designer buys. I bought a couple of things but managed to stick to a budget and not splurge out on the latest must-haves in designer trends. Although, I was very, very tempted by a lot of things. My choice of shops would definitely have to be Michael Kors, Dolce and Gabbana, Prada and Kate Spade.

The Best of British collective is also being showcased at Bicester this June, with a pop-up boutique exhibiting some of the finest British design talent. With brands including L.K.Bennett, Mulberry and Ted Baker, this event is a must-see. The in-store and village entertainment is brilliant, with live bands and photo booths for some fun in-between shopping.

Overall, we had a brilliant day and although we didn't buy as much as usual (even if there were sales), we know that when we go back we'll definitely make up for it! Bicester is a must for shopping if you're into designer brands, or just love a bargain, and with trips from Oxford and London, it's convenient for everyone.

My pick: Classic designer pieces

Designer's work their style around a specific piece or idea and usually, their most popular piece will never go out of style. With pieces around for so long, they become known to that designer. For example, Christian Louboutin's red sole has become a statement that is instantly recognisable and will now, never go out of style.

Over the years, classic pieces become desirable for a lot of people, including myself. They are items that whether you bought 20 years ago, this week or in 50 years' time, they will always be on trend and a statement piece for any wardrobe.

These are my top 5 favourite designer pieces:

1. Celine handbag

The structured shape of the bag makes it instantly recognisable as a Celine. My favourite is this medium luggage handbag in the soft grey leather.

2. Chanel flapbag

This classic piece is one of Chanel's greatest products. Always on trend and wearable with any outfit, it will never go out of style.

3. Valentino sandals

More recently, Valentino sandals have been getting more and more popular. They are everywhere! This 'ballerina' style in baby pink is my all-time favourite, with rock studs making them a bit more edgy.

4. YSL tassel satchel

Saint Laurent are bang on trend with this satchel. The chain makes it wearable and the initial detail and tassel add a glamorous touch. The nude colour is my favourite, along with the metallic silver.

5. Dior cat-eye sunglasses

Sunglasses are always a necessity to have, especially now summer is approaching. These Dior cat-eye shades are perfect, with a classic shape and subtle rose-gold tint.
